  Severely understaffed with only 1 waitress doing everything. Got excited because the menu had lots of pics and everything looked great. The pics must be photo shopped though because the food was nothing like it. We both got sashimi don sets in the $40-$50 range each. The sashimi isn't fresh and my uni was fishy as. The sashimi also just covers a mountain of rice too. The tamago looks like play doh. We also regrettably got some Otoro. It was NOT Otoro, was just some pale af Tuna. Avoid this place at all costs.

  Overall is a okay place to try but food could’ve been better, one of my friends mentioned the ika and some sashimi was not fresh
  
  The fact that we need to wait for another 20 minutes after our appointment is also not very good service.
  
  However location is close to cbd and atmosphere is awesome
  
  Unagi was relatively okay but a bit pricey.. sushi tastes pretty good
  
  Chirashi bowl seems a bit plain
  
  One bite beef is tender but again a bit pricey

  What a bad experience. Ordered a Toro sashimi that looks terrible, the texture and taste are also so weird. We asked the staff, and the kitchen said it is normal and would not change or refund. Don’t waste your time and money here.

  The vibe here is great and the staff are friendly. They have a huge range of sushi and sashimi options and the dishes are presented beautifully. I highly recommend their dons though, their jumbo unagi don is making its round on social media for good reason; as a person who doesn’t like eel, this was my fave dish! It was cooked well and marinated in a beautiful sauce. Otherwise, their iced matcha latte needs improvement (it tasted more like milk).

  Really horrible Japanese food, the Uni was not fresh and smelled. Curry was watery, and the fried food was over cooked. Fried prawn only had a small prawn or shrimp inside, the rest was just bread crumbs.
  Beer was served with half glass of foam.
  Overpriced for everything as the food wasn’t prepared properly and not fresh.

  Really overpriced place for sushi and Japanese food. Some of the dishes go for around $80.
  
  The ‘large’ eel and eggroll don that has been making the rounds tastes alright for $40. But other than that, the sashimi tobiko Don didn’t quit taste like the sashimi was fresh.
  
  I wouldn’t recommend this place given that the prices for a lot of dishes were overpriced. You can get far better Japanese food elsewhere.

  Delicious! A decent selection of Japanese food prepared fresh as ordered. The staff were polite and helpful and the service was relatively timely. I sampled four different dishes over lunch. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. We look forward to returning again. I found the prices reasonable and there's quite a range of different dishes on their menu to choose from. The location is barely a couple of blocks from the Queen Victoria Building (towards Darling Harbor direction).
  
  *We were tipped off by positive reviews elsewhere that Monster Sushi was a terrific place to eat. It would appear they were right!
